We are very fortunate to have Cheryl and appreciate her hard work and compassionate care for the Veterans and our nursing staff.
Cheryl is very dedicated to her role as nurse manager in the Module J Infusion clinic. The staff in Module J appreciated Cheryl’s commitment and passion for oncology, patient care, and support of nursing and because of this, we would like to nominate her for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award. Cheryl has been the manager in Module J for almost two years. She is a great advocate for staff, and as the number of patients continue to grow in Module J, Cheryl is always willing to take a patient assignment and still manage her responsibilities as nurse manager. Cheryl is a reliable resource when managing hypersensitivity reactions and always available to offer a second opinion and guidance using her knowledge in oncology.
Cheryl is always jumping in to help with IV placement, delivering blood work to the lab, and picking up blood products as needed. Cheryl always encourages all of her nurses to let her cover lunches so that we can get a break on really busy days.
In addition, Cheryl has been working on a grant-funded “Close to Me” project to open an infusion clinic in Akron. Cheryl has been an advocate to ensure the space is constructed in the best way for nurses to provide the safest patient care. Cheryl makes her nurses feel listened to and is always supportive of time off related to health needs or otherwise. She works diligently to manage the schedule even if it means that she takes a patient assignment. Many of us have not encountered this with any previous manager!
We are very fortunate to have Cheryl and appreciate her hard work and compassionate care for the Veterans and our nursing staff. We cannot think of anyone more deserving of this award and appreciate your consideration.
