As a newly registered nurse at BIDMC since September 2022, I've had the pleasure of interacting with many kind and helpful colleagues. However, there is one nurse in particular whom I would like to recognize: Sandy. Not only is Sandy an exceptional nurse, but she is also an outstanding human being. She consistently demonstrates kindness and compassion towards her colleagues, patients, and their families, and is a fierce advocate for her patients' needs. Sandy's ability to remain calm amidst the most stressful situations is truly admirable.
As the resource nurse during most of her night shifts, Sandy not only manages her own patient load but also consistently offers help to her colleagues. As a new graduate nurse, Sandy has had a significant impact on my orientation, especially when dealing with patients who are deteriorating. I will always be grateful for the time Sandy gave me a report on a patient she had taken care of overnight and stayed with me to help care for the patient when their condition suddenly worsened during the change of shift. She stayed until the patient was transferred to the OR.
Sandy's dedication to her patients is truly inspiring. She always goes above and beyond for her patients and colleagues. In addition to her exceptional patient care, Sandy is also a dedicated mentor to new graduate nurses and is always willing to advocate for her colleagues and their patients. Her cheerful demeanor and contagious kindness make her a pleasure to work with. I strongly believe that Sandy is deserving of this DAISY Award for her hard work and dedication to her patients, their families, and her colleagues.
