Sam has never skipped a beat with us. He continued to not only do crafts but make us custom cookies, cakes for every single milestone. He made bad days not feel so bad and always brightened the room when he walked in.
My Son L was born 13 weeks early. Sam was on night shift the night L was born. Less than 48 hours after being born myself and husband both declared he was our favorite nurse. Sam ended up signing up to be L's Primary Nurse. “His Prime.” We have been in the NICU 94 days and plan to be discharged soon. Sam has always made us feel so comfortable in the darkest of times. Our first mothers/Father’s Day as well as both of our birthdays came soon after L was born, he took it upon himself to make custom birthday cards, baseballs with hand and footprints, and pictures of L at the time. Sam has never skipped a beat with us. He continued to not only do crafts but make us custom cookies, cakes for every single milestone. He made bad days not feel so bad and always brightened the room when he walked in. We would look forward to seeing Sam and would be sad when he wasn’t working! He takes the time out of his day to write everything down for us and highlight certain things after hours and will bring them to us during his next shift. He goes above and beyond for every one of his babies. He is truly amazing, and I can confidently say I wouldn’t have survived our NICU stay without him as our nurse. Sam restored our faith in humanity. He works so incredibly hard on the clock and off the clock. His strives to make families comfortable during such a hard time do not go unnoticed.. even the other nurses know and say things like “Did Sam make this?” or “lemme guess this is Sam's doing?” he truly is an unbelievable person, and I am going to miss him so much! No one deserves this quite like he does!

My great-nephew was born prematurely at 22.5 weeks. As the first child of my niece, her son was born at 2.5 pounds. We were not sure he would make it. He's had many struggles and has been in the neonatal unit for over three months now. Sam has been an angel. Always working with my niece to care for the baby. Reassuring her in the correct way to feed and while moving lots of tubes and oxygen lines. L is finally gaining weight at over three months old now he's still in. As any person knows, having a baby and caring for the baby, as well as yourself as a parent is tough. My niece visits a few times a day Sam assists the mom in her struggles while taking care of the premature newborn baby. He's been such a support for the new mom and dad. And so nurturing with the baby. I cannot think of a more deserving person to receive this award. Sam shows all it is to be a true professional nurse. So giving, kind professional. Thank you!

Sam helped in more ways than just caring for my best friend's son, he became a support system that she never had on the outside of the hospital. He helps keep all his family up to date and truly accepts all his patients in and cares for them like family.

Sam has gone above and beyond taking care of my best friend's son. He has been in the NICU since May. This has been the hardest time of my friend and her husband's lives, and Sam has provided so much ease and comfort for them during this difficult time. He has made a world of difference for them by going above and beyond to ensure that not only the baby is taken care of, but also the parents.
