My healthy mid-50-year-old brother had the sudden onset of stroke symptoms in the afternoon. He was seen emergently in the ED (fantastic stroke team response there as well) and admitted quickly to the ICU. Greta admitted him with professional efficiency, thoroughness, and kindness. Her calm demeanor and ability to "read" people set him at immediate ease despite the catastrophic nature of the situation.
My brother's semi-hysterical mother, siblings, and teenage sons quickly descended, and again Greta managed us all with respect and kindness while making sure ICU decorum was maintained. She advocated for my brother with the care team and consultants. She made sure that his discharge was facilitated when it was clear that psychological risk was exceeding physical benefit. I could not have asked for better care from a healthcare professional in this setting. I am very grateful that despite the angst of the circumstances the situation was managed remarkably well under Greta's direction. She is a great asset and role model for all clinical staff.
