I was Emilio's patient's roommate and bonded with her immediately. She was so sick on that day that she strolled into the empty bed next to me. She was in so much stomach pain and then was taken for an endoscopy, then came back to the room then visited by the doctor to advise her she had colon cancer. Emilio, throughout this short time, cared, listened, and comforted her, doing everything for her comfort. Emilio was going above and beyond until Friday’s surgery to remove cancer. She was so touched by Emilio’s caring way she asked for a DAISY form as she wanted to commend Emilio for the way he took care of her. But the form is still here, as she didn’t get to fill it out. She was moved to another floor after surgery. I asked for the form at the same time as I was touched by his caring, compassionate way with P. He was also very kind to me, and I wasn’t even his patient. He is an exemplary employee, showing what a true nurse stands for.
