Daisy knew by my face that I was frustrated and spent time listening to me vent, shed tears, and ultimately decompress enough to calm down and let the meds do their work.
Daisy was my discharge nurse following an emergency C-section for pre-eclampsia. I was tired, overwhelmed, and very nervous about discharge with my history of previous preeclampsia post-partum. Daisy helped me advocate for myself with the primary team to have my concerns heard. She went out of her way through multiple calls to make sure that I felt heard.
Fast forward 3 days, and I was readmitted to the hospital for severe pre-eclampsia, and I was upset and felt very defeated and helpless. Daisy again was my morning nurse after admission. She knew by my face that I was frustrated and spent time listening to me vent, shed tears, and ultimately decompress enough to calm down and let the meds do their work. She problem-solved issues with my 6-day-old infant and again went to bat for me at a time when I was feeling the most vulnerable. I am a fellow nurse, and I am absolutely proud that she is in this profession. She really helped me in ways that she will never understand. Her compassion will be forever appreciated.
