I delivered my daughter at WMC last month. I was highly impressed by the professionalism and quick acting of the nurses on that unit. I had to have an emergency C-section due to an umbilical prolapse. I owe Nurse Gildas my life for saving my baby’s life. I had Gildas check me as I was laboring because I felt something off. Immediately Gildas came in to assess me. As she was assessing me, she felt my baby’s cord and took action. She was so calm that I didn't realize something emergent was happening. She was so quick acting and calm and got the doctor and code team right away. Gildas held the cord in while we all were being wheeled into the OR together. She did not remove her hand until it was safe to do so. My baby was delivered with no complications because of Gilda’s quick actions. I will never be able to repay her, and I am extremely grateful. She is such a positive light and an experienced nurse.

I am also an RN and know all the complications and issues that can arise, but I felt safe and trusted Gildas with my life. I knew I was in great hands. I wish I could do more to let her know how much she has touched our lives. The hospital is so lucky to have her. I will tell my daughter about the nurse who saved her life when she is older. Right now, I tell everyone my story and how Gildas saved us.
