This is my second stay at this hospital, and my wife was a patient here several times.  I have always been favorably impressed with the quality of your nursing staff.  But once in a while, someone stands head and shoulders above the rest.  In this case, it is this nurse. I have seen this form before but never felt compelled to fill it out. 

This is a very difficult time for me. When I have felt discouraged, he has been there to cheer me up.  Last night, I was having severe pain.  He was right there with the pain meds.  That’s his job.  Then, he made sure the meds were working.  The important thing was that it was very clear that he sincerely cared that they were working.

Tonight, I was feeling pretty discouraged about my long-term prospects.  He sat with me and listened and talked to me until my mood perked up.  It's not just what he said…it was more that he sincerely cared about me.

It's got to be a tough job.  All you see is sick people for 2 or 3 days, then they are gone from your life forever. This nurse made me feel like I was more than that to him, and that was what I needed.  By next week, this nurse will be the only person I will actually remember from these few days.

I am an engineer and not really a “people person,” but it is different with this nurse…please give him the recognition he deserves!
