Deanna took the patient's BP and found it slightly elevated, reviewed all the meds to help them understand what she needed to take currently, and stayed with the family for 30 minutes to give the meds a chance to set in and make sure the patient was okay.
Yesterday we had a long-stay patient discharged home to BHC. When transport came they refused to take her BSC because they were doing another pick-up. I joked and said, "Well Deanna lives down there, maybe she can drop it off." Deanna started looking up the address and found it was very close to her house so she agreed to take it. The patient and significant other were notified.

When Deanna got to the residence, she noticed the patient was shaky and anxious and they weren't certain about her medications. Deanna took the patient's BP and found it slightly elevated, reviewed all the meds to help them understand what she needed to take currently, and stayed with the family for 30 minutes to give the meds a chance to set in and make sure the patient was okay. This was far beyond the call of duty and I am very proud to have Deanna in my department and know she truly cares for patients in and out of the hospital.
