Josh was so personable, fun to talk to, and just an amazing nurse in every way.
My husband had a lower right lung lobe removed due to a cancerous mass. Josh was his nurse the first two day shifts that we were at Rush. Wow! He anticipated every question I was going to have about my husband’s post-surgical care. He answered every question, from “What are all those wires and tubes coming in and out of my husband’s body?” to “What is good on the menu?” with equal knowledge. Everything he did was with great care and professionalism.
When my adult daughter and I accidentally disconnected my husband’s chest tube after he stood up so we could help him put on athletic shorts, we pushed for a nurse and Josh came in and knew that we were so distraught over what had happened that he kept reassuring us that “this happens more than you know” and immediately got busy calling “the team” to see what was next. He, with help from a tech or aide, got right to work holding a container of water over the end that was still connected. Completely professional, Josh never showed any anxiousness (I had plenty for all of us). He competently was able to reattach the tubes together and then skillfully taped the tube to my husband’s chest. No further issues at all, such as leaking or any bleeding. Josh actually picked up an extra shift the following day, and we were so glad to have him as our nurse again.
Josh was so personable, fun to talk to, and just an amazing nurse in every way. We never felt that he was in a hurry to get to another patient, and every time he told us he’d be right back, he was. When we inquired about pain control, Josh explained what meds my husband needed and saw to it that he received his meds on time. What a tremendous asset he is to the Rush Medical Center employee pool. Thank you for this opportunity to sing his praise.
