Erin’s patient was ordered a PET stress test; however, her patient was very anxious and had issues lying flat. Erin knew what this test entailed as she used to work in Non-Invasive Cardiology as a stress tech before she became a registered nurse. In this stress test, patients lie flat for upwards of 30 minutes under a CT camera, which can cause shortness of breath, chest pain and pressure, headache, etc.

Erin was aware her patient was incredibly anxious and tearful. Even though the patient received anti-anxiety medication prior to his arrival, he was still very anxious about the test. When Erin’s shift ended, she clocked out and stayed with her patient during the stress test. Erin helped him keep calm as this test requires patients to remain still.

I don’t believe the patient would have been able to complete his stress test without Erin's rapport with him and her willingness to be his emotional support. I'm sure Erin was tired and ready to go home after her shift. I was impressed by Erin’s willingness and kindness to support her patient after her shift ended.
