As the days passed with Patricia as my nurse, I was improving physically and emotionally.

At the tender age of 25, I was diagnosed with a life altering disease. Thus, my life has been filled with hospital visits, blood work, clinical trials, multiple specialist referrals, as well as life altering decisions.

In March 2023, I entered the emergency room experiencing pain. Prior to my admission I had been in bed for over a month. Patricia was my nurse whose talents should be recognized. Some of the adjectives to describe Patricia are: extremely knowledgeable, attentive, sensitive, patient, loving, and always willing to listen. Close your eyes and imagine a lifetime of medical "unknowns." No matter how many admits, fear can run through your body similar to waves crashing in the ocean. As a long-term survivor, I feel like my life's clock is ticking faster than the average individual. Patricia never hesitated to truly participate in my wellbeing. I was encouraged to shower daily, and for this alone I am grateful. As it is extra work for a nurse as we all know. As my trust is expanding so did our relationship.

I truly don't think that Patricia understands the depths of our shared conversations or her impact within my stay. As the days passed with Patricia as my nurse, I was improving physically and emotionally. In conclusion I will share: 1) To hold a stranger’s hand and transmit love is a gift as well as a blessing. 2) To instill hope in a shattering heart can move mountains. 3) To listen and truly listen to your patients’ needs is remarkable. 4) Life's beauty shared tears - priceless! It is with both confidence and an incredible amount of respect that I nominate Patricia.
