Jayne demonstrates beyond-extraordinary interactions. In her interactions, she balances that delicate line of treating people as human beings who have real-world experiences and feelings and upholding company requirements.
Jayne has long-standing relationships with her patients and peers alike. She is our go-to person as educators as well as nurse practitioners. Jayne goes out of her way to make sure everyone around her feels appreciated and valued. She encourages us to think outside the box and grow professionally. Jayne provides a welcoming environment and makes a point to reach out early and often checking in on anything that is needed for new team members. Jayne demonstrates beyond-extraordinary interactions. In her interactions, she balances that delicate line of treating people as human beings who have real-world experiences and feelings and upholding company requirements. She has led through extraordinary times in the Diabetes team, and supported the team through challenging conversations. She makes time for each of her staff to hear them and respond to them as not only employees but also as whole people.

Jayne recognizes that not everyone's needs look the same. While she has group discussions among the team, she also looks at each colleague as an individual with their own unique set of needs. Jayne does a great job looking at disparities not only in her patients but also in her staff. Her patients come from a wide range of backgrounds, and she identifies what help they may need that we can provide - sometimes this is giving an extra sample, sometimes it’s a follow-up phone call. We have even done phone calls and virtual classes outside of normal operating hours to help families and provide equitable care. Her staff are also diverse in their at-home lives. Some of her staff have families; some live in the cities, and some are more rural. Many have chronic illnesses, both medical and mental health-related. She equates this to her requests and always respects each individual's circumstances. She also makes it a point to encourage each employee to take care of themselves first, which is a highly admirable leadership trait.

Jayne is the definition of accessible. She is always available to talk, even on her days "off." There have been times I have called her at 9 pm to discuss a concern, and she willingly answers the phone and is there to mentor me through the situation. It does not matter the situation - a patient concern, an outside-of-work/life situation concern, or even a professional development concern. She is there to listen and provide insight to all of them. Jayne consistently makes herself available for her staff by visiting different locations and sending emails or calls to check in on if there is anything her staff needs. She encourages the CDE team to work together to make decisions that affect our team. Jayne is a huge supporter of professional development and has encouraged staff to pursue topics they are passionate about. She recently encouraged one of our MAs to obtain a community diabetes certification.

Jayne always empowers and trusts the educator group to weigh in on big decisions in the clinic. She values her team members' insights and takes everyone's thoughts into account. She acts as an amazing bridge between the providers and the educator staff. She shares information in a timely manner and works with her teams to solve any problems. Jayne does a great job rallying her team together and making sure everybody is up to speed on events happening. She does this while also giving everybody the ability to express their own personal take on the issue. This provides the team with creative decision-making because each person's voice is heard. It also makes for a productive solution since the entire team is involved in the process.

Since the day I reached out to her and asked if I could have a job on her team, I have felt strong value, care, and inspiration from Jayne. She is truly the best boss I have ever worked with. I trust that I could go to her with anything, and for that, I am so grateful to her. Her journey as a provider and leader inspires me on the daily to be as compassionate, driven, and dedicated as she is! Jayne supports her staff with the utmost respect and shares the successes of staff. She trusts our opinions and feedback and continuously inspires staff to go above and beyond. She can and does praise your success and also helps teach you through conflict. She is deeply invested in each of her many employees and approaches each conversation with respect for that person's whole self. She sees beyond the workplace and asks about things that make a person unique. She hears your concerns and actually does something about them. She leads the team through every speed bump, asking for their trust but also trusting them. There is no leader that I trust more than Jayne. This makes her not only a leader but also a friend.
