Her wit, candor, and professionalism have been a true delight and support to my care and success during navigating the challenging waters of heart failure management and recovery.
Bonnie has been our night nurse for the past three shifts.  We also met her briefly when we first arrived on Monday evening as she was the Charge nurse that shift.  Bonnie is a model for what world-class nursing care looks like in person from a patient’s perspective.  When asked what five key attributes went into “great nursing,” Bonnie listed:

Ensuring patients get rest safely.
Being personable.
Efficiently receiving and meeting patients’ needs.
Keeping the chaos outside a patient's room from coming into their room.
Greeting patients as adults and decision-makers

Bonnie has diligently been all this and more.  Her wit, candor, and professionalism have been a true delight and support to my care and success during navigating the challenging waters of heart failure management and recovery.

In addition, I would like to add that Bonnie is a constant, flexible, supportive force to 5NE and UWMC.  She jumps into new situations with a joy to learn and grow in her nursing career.  She has taken on the roles of preceptor and charge RN this past year in addition to joining the UPC.  In these roles her organization, savvy for systems, and understanding of complex processes shine. Bonnie is an excellent educator of patients and staff, as a day night rotator connects with and supports all across the shifts, and brings quality, detailed, patient care to our patients on the unit.
