en is a valuable asset to HOCC.  She works very hard for her unit to run smoothly.  She is active in recruiting, retaining, and maintaining her staff.  She is also always advocating for the unit and the patients they care for.
Jen is an amazing leader. I’ve worked with her for more than 6 years, and throughout this time, I’ve witnessed how much she cares about her staff and her work. During my transition from a nurse on the floor to a CRL, I’ve never felt that I work under Jen, instead, I have always felt like I work beside Jen as a team. Jen is consistently going above and beyond for her staff in many ways. Jen has fought for N4 to have safe staffing ratios. We’ve always been viewed as the step down of the hospital, and she has ensured we are staffed adequately to ensure patient safety. She is positive to work with and always strives for a safe workplace for patients and staff. Jen does not hesitate to work the front lines- she helps at the bedside with patient care. If the floor is short-staffed and she is off, she contacts staff on her days off to see if they are able to come to work. She ensures the floor has a plan that has the staff and patients’ interests in mind. She never turns a blind eye to N4. Lastly, Jen is fair, and she treats her staff equally. She holds us all accountable and always challenges us to be better. I believe N4 is as successful as it is because of Jen; we are thankful for everything she does. She has helped me grow as a nurse and a leader. Thank you so much for being you. Jen leads by example, and with integrity, and we know she cares.

Jen is a valuable resource to HOCC; she is very knowledgeable in her role as well as many other areas of the hospital and daily operations.  She has coached and mentored many new managers and CRLs in her time at HOCC.  Many colleagues call on Jen as a resource when they have questions on policy, procedure, or even general questions.  She spends an innumerable amount of time on her schedule and staffing to ensure that her floor is supported and has the correct resources to function.  She will always be “on-call” even during her off days and vacation time, she makes herself available to her staff and colleagues
Her staff say: Jen advocates for her staff, and she cares about the well-being of her staff. She finds staff to keep safe ratios even when she isn’t here inside the building. We can contact her whenever we need her, and she responds to us right away. She goes above and beyond for her staff. She isn’t afraid to work at the bedside with patients hands-on. Jen is fair and treats her staff equally.

Jen is the content expert in so many areas, especially on her unit – she has worked at HOCC in many roles, including staff nurse as a GN, onto CRL, and now manager of N4.  She is very caring about her staff and the outcomes of her patients on her unit.

Jen has recently obtained her BSN, all while working full time, and being a very active single mom to her two daughters, and participating in community events.
