My sister was in the hospital for over a week. Sam was her RN for 3 days. I have never met a human with so much compassion for others in my 55 years of life. He was always checking in on her, giving needed medication, adjusting her fixing tubes, cleaning her face, putting Chapstick on her lips, anything he could do to make her more comfortable. And above all, he treated my sister like a real friend. He made my heart smile every time he talked to her. Such an extraordinary young man. He treated me with kindness, understanding, and warmth. He never dismissed any of my questions, and there were many. His knowledge was so reassuring as he always took the time in detail to explain what he was doing and why. He went above and beyond to speak with other friends who were here to see my sister. I asked Sam a little about his background and how he ended up at Ascension St. Elizabeth Hospital. I am so proud of how Sam became who he is today and what he does to help others. God bless him for being in our lives when we needed an angel.
