A patient had been eagerly awaiting transfer to a rehab bed at Magee. When the bed became available, and an ambulance arrived for the transport, we faced an unforeseen obstacle: the ambulance could not accommodate the patient's motorized wheelchair. This posed a significant issue for the patient, who felt he couldn't possibly transition to rehab without it. The Case Manager diligently explored various options to arrange separate transportation for the wheelchair, only to find that the cost would be an exorbitant amount—a sum the patient was unable to pay.

It was Emory who proposed a practical and cost-effective solution: a wheelchair-accessible Uber. This innovative idea not only solved the transportation dilemma but did so at an affordable price of just $10, enabling the patient's mother to accompany the wheelchair. The patient and his mother were overwhelmingly thankful for Emory's suggestion.
