Upon discovering that the patient AB was not receiving their Biktarvy for HIV prophylaxis Ashley discussed with the pharmacist and it was discovered that it was for post-exposure prophylaxis and we needed to get ahold of the medication urgently. Ashley called the pharmacy where it could be filled and provided the necessary billing information for the patient. Ashley then explained what was going on with the patient and was informed that the patient should also be on Tivicay in addition to the Biktarvy. Ashley then proceeded to call the physician to get an order for the Tivicay in addition to the Biktarvy and called those medications into the retail pharmacy. Ashley then arranged for a delivery on the same day for the medications to provide the best possible care. Ashley helped take care of a young and vulnerable patient by acting quickly and arranging for the medications to be provided in a timely manner. This could have potentially saved the patient from living a life with HIV, and that should never be understated.
