Susan is always there all hours of the day, she even picks up the phone on the first ring at 2 am when someone calls needing help with Meditech.
When I think of a nursing legend or mentor, Susan comes top of mind for many of us who began our nursing journey and career at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. Her meticulous leadership and forward-thinking paved the way for many great amazing nurses. She gave us the autonomy to be great, she expected us to be good and pushed us to be great. Her wisdom and passion for caring for others was palpable.

Susan then advanced into informatics; this is where she found her truest passion, mentoring thousands of people and endless hours of training with computer documentation to support the delivery of the care and compassion of each nurse and healthcare staff person she interacted with. The passion and love she has for this career is genuine. She is someone that you feel how much she loves her job and this organization.

Susan is always there all hours of the day, she even picks up the phone on the first ring at 2 am when someone calls needing help with Meditech. She is a Nursing legend and hero; because of her passion for what she does, she allows all nursing staff to shine bright in all that they do. She is someone behind the scenes and very humble hardly ever taking credit for all she does and all she supports and advocates for. It is time to put her front and center and put the light on her.

Her guidance and mentoring have touched endless amounts of staff.

Recently while chatting with Susan I also learned that her appreciation for her colleagues runs deep. She truly adores and has endless gratitude for all staff. While in the hospital recovering from an illness she continued to support her passion for her colleagues by connecting with the dietary office to order pizza for a hospital unit each week! Can you believe that? Always thinking of everyone else and their well-being and going above and beyond to give that recognition and thank you to each of them when she herself is suffering. I was moved to tears to see her and hear her love of the staff as she puts it. She stated I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t have all these people in my life, the environmental services team works so hard, the nurses on every floor, the patient care technicians, the maintenance staff and on and on about how it takes all of us to do the great work we do, she is right about that for sure and now it is time to honor her work, legacy, and commitment to every single person at Terre Haute Regional Hospital and beyond.
