I don't think a family member could or would have taken any better care of C than Patience did.
My daughter, C, has breast cancer and had a double mastectomy and Diep flap reconstruction at East Cooper Medical Center. It was/is a very stressful and emotional time for us and Patience (great name for her) was the most caring, considerate, and informative nurse we have ever had. The first night is the only night we had her - wish my daughter had her 24 hours a day and wish we could have brought her home with us.
Every hour she would come in with the nurse she was training - among other things, they would listen for the artery and veins which was extremely stressful at the time the nurse training couldn't find one or the other. Patience gave her the time and reassured her the color and temperature were good and she was sure everything was fine. She answered every question we had - I had lots - she never got annoyed (at least didn't show it). I don't think a family member could or would have taken any better care of C than Patience did.
The next night we (unfortunately) did not have Patience as her nurse. Patience was on the baby side but came and helped her to the bathroom and took time to explain a way to get in bed that might be easier for her (and it was). And answered more questions - we had assured C she was doing great. I can't tell you what her care meant.
