Marcia stood out to me and all the other wonderful nurses who took care of my special needs son. She went out of her way to be kind to him and even brought him a few toys that really brightened his day. She would stop in to be sure he was feeling secure because he had a limited understanding of what was going on in the unfamiliar hospital setting. She was patient with his countless and most often repeated questions and made him feel valued and heard. Along with excellent loving care of my son, Marcia was also so kind to think of whatever needs I might have, as I was staying in my son’s room overnight most of the nights he was at the hospital. My son came to St. James Hospital with a very serious pneumonia and chest infection and was in ICU for over a week, then to a general room and finally accepted into in-patient rehab to continue his care. He is being discharged from the hospital today, almost a month later, and we have been so blessed to receive excellent care his entire stay.
