It is very important to me that my son is allowed to choose certain things because so much of his life is decided for him (i.e., taking meds, going to the doctor, having transfusions, etc.) Kristy allows him to choose.
My 6-year-old son comes to the hospital every 5 weeks to complete a blood exchange. The nurses always go above and beyond to make sure my son is comfortable, and that the transfusion is done properly each and every time. I am very pleased with the care that we receive. Kristy usually does his IV. She allows him to choose whether or not the cold spray is used. She also allows him to pick the spot where he wants it (within reason and considering there is a viable vein). Once they have agreed upon a location, she allows him to count before she does the “stick.” She is patient with him. They laugh at his visits. He looks forward to seeing them. I look forward to seeing them. It is very important to me that my son is allowed to choose certain things because so much of his life is decided for him (i.e., taking meds, going to the doctor, having transfusions, etc.) Kristy allows him to choose. I’m forever grateful.
