We are letting you know, Amy, how much we appreciate your caring spirit and heart, how fortunate I was, and all the patients you cross paths with and have you as their nurse.
We wanted to let you know how blessed I was to have you as my day shift nurse recovering from prostatectomy surgery. Being that this was my first time as a patient in the hospital, I didn’t know what to expect. Initially, it was a little wild in my two-person room with several family members visiting my roommate between our thin curtain walls. My wife and I could not believe how unaware, loud, and inconsiderate they were. You intervened somehow without us saying anything to enforce the one-visitor policy on my behalf as I came out of my post-surgery fog. Later, you didn’t have to, but when I was thirsty, you brought me a glass of water and, in addition, a cup of ice chips and a glass of cranberry juice that I requested. Overachiever or a great Nurse? You anticipated and were hyper-aware of my every need, Amy, whether adding a blanket, raising my bed, adjusting my pillow, asking me about my pain, or emptying my bag. It was like you were reading my mind. So attentive!

When it came time to be released, you explained the home care procedures, what to expect, warning against overdoing it, and what we needed to do and not do. By now, you’d earned our trust, and we hung on to your every word, which gave us confidence that we would be okay. We are letting you know, Amy, how much we appreciate your caring spirit and heart, how fortunate I was, and all the patients you cross paths with and have you as their nurse. You are a special person and a great example of how to do it right. Thank you!!
