I am a nursing student, shadowing nurses at the VA for 12 12-hour shifts. I have shadowed a few different nurses and have been lucky to have shadowed Jenny a few times. There is no one instance where Jenny displayed iCARE principles, but many. She consistently respects others and advocates for patients. I have seen her run around to get things like blood pressure cuffs to send with a patient who struggles with social determinants of health, etc. She displays integrity with her patients by spending time listening to their concerns and offering solutions to things that concern them. She also is a gifted educator and not only takes time to explain things to nursing students but also to patients. She has proved herself in many ways. When I think about the kind of nurse who displays CARE values, it's Jenny!
