Olivia not only excelled in this specific circumstance, but showed her value as an excellent member of our night team. I hope that we continue to find and work with individuals of this standard.
Olivia worked a scheduled 1100-2300 shift, and when it was time for her to leave, she took it upon herself to serve as TTL for a 3rd critical level 1 trauma, which came in close succession to 2 others. She was on her way out with bags in hand, however, she accepted the incoming case in the midst of moderate chaos simply because no one else had yet done so. Olivia proceeded to care for and manage this young patient from arrival until the moment of disposition (they were transferred to UAB for an upgrade in care with regards to a multitude of traumatic injuries) and persisted in further efforts to complete trauma/transfer documentation per protocol. This amounted to adding almost 6 hours to her shift for the sole purposes of patient care and support for her fellow nursing staff during a critical period of time. Olivia not only excelled in this specific circumstance, but showed her value as an excellent member of our night team. I hope that we continue to find and work with individuals of this standard.

Olivia’s shift ended at 11 pm, and we had three level 1 traumas come in around the same time. She stayed many hours, at least four or more, to help and was the lead nurse for the transferred trauma. Three level 1 traumas stretch our department nurses to the limit, especially on nights, and she stayed to help and was a crucial part of care for these patients. It was noticed by everyone who works here.
On a side note, Olivia always works very hard, and we are grateful. I think it should be noted, and this is why I am nominating her for this award.
