I wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for Kristen’s encouragement, thoughtfulness, and caring hands.
When nominating Kristen, I am not sure where to begin. She was the most awesome nurse and an angel in disguise. She was the kindest, most thoughtful, caring nurse you could ask and hope for. She had the most caring and gentle hands when they were taking care of me, whether she was taking care of my wound vac, helping me move from bed to chair, giving me ice chips, or just keeping me comfortable. She was very thorough, always making sure everything was done correctly. She was always willing to explain things to me, even if I had asked a dozen times before. Also, she always had time to explain things to my family to keep them updated. If she saw I was getting depressed or discouraged, she would give me a pep talk to keep my spirits up. She encouraged me on the accomplishments I made, no matter how small they were. She even stopped in to see me on her day off just to check on me. Also, she has even checked on me since I have been home, which has meant so much to me. My hospital stay was long. I had an emergency surgery and was in the hospital for a month, which involved being there over Christmas. But with her encouragement and caring hands, I made it through the holidays. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for Kristen’s encouragement, thoughtfulness, and caring hands. In my mind, she deserves this award, hands down.
