Simply put... Jonathan is amazing! He is a wealth of knowledge, wisdom, and caring. One example of this occurred today. I was bringing a patient for a walk who had an NG tube in place. Upon returning to the room, I noted that the tube was leaking from the blue vent tube even while the NG was to suction. The patient was also complaining of some abdominal discomfort. This patient was not mine, but I immediately called Jonathan because I knew he would be able to help me out. He noticed right away that a special piece was missing from the vented portion of the tube, which was causing it to not function correctly. After placing the missing piece, he observed that the length of the tube protruding from the patient's nose was possibly too long. He measured the patient with a new NG tube and noted the current tube had indeed slid out approximately 4 inches.

Jonathan has an incredible ability to thoroughly talk patients through their options and be a calming presence for them. Jonathan advanced the tube to the right location, and the patient had immediate relief. The patient and their family were so thankful to Jonathan for his thorough explanation of what he was doing, as well as his pleasant demeanor.

This is just one recent example of why we all love Jonathan so much, but there are many other stories to share. Jonathan is adored and respected on our unit by everyone for his incredible demeanor and knowledge. Also, Jonathan seems to know everything! It is rare that I find something to ask him that he doesn't know, and when it happens, he is quick to find out for me. He is always my first choice if I have questions about anything.
