Lexi sang so many Disney songs when A woke up and spoke directly to her, so she knew she was her patient and princess.
A is a 22-year-old with Davet Syndrome who was admitted to Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana in June. She had uncontrollable seizures. After a couple of days at Memorial, they were still unable to control the seizures, and it was clear that we needed more help. So A was flown to IU Methodist.

A has been at IU Methodist for over 2 months and has received excellent care from many nurses, techs, therapists, and doctors. Too many to count. Lexi, however, is extra special.

From the first moment we met Lexi, it was clear she was more than a nurse. She was a friend. Lexi was patient and answered the many questions we had. She advocated for A in moments when we didn’t feel heard. She delivered consistent and quality care, as well as navigated easily all the unique conditions of A’s care. More than that, how she cared was palpable. She would visit us on her days caring for other patients. When possible, she asked to be put on A’s service because she knew that someone who knew her care plan was critical to her getting better. She sang so many Disney songs when A woke up and spoke directly to her, so she knew she was her patient and princess.

Every day when the day shift starts, we hope that Lexi will be our nurse, because she just makes A smile. She is infectious. She is an excellent nurse. She is a DAISY Nurse.
