Kayla is consistently the bright, shining presence that lights up any night here at the hospital. Several times, this woman has had the 'most difficult' patients, according to other staff members, and these 'most difficult' patients are sweet as can be, cooperative, and compliant. There is a patient, one such 'difficult' patient who currently suffers from PTSD stemming from his military service. This patient has hardly slept in 2 days. As of right now, that patient is snoring and resting, comfortably. Kayla took the time to ask the questions that led us to answers about what helps this patient's anxiety. Kayla walked him through everything, every step of the way, making an effort to reassure him and ease his worry.

Kayla is a brilliant nurse, she is beyond eager to learn new skills and add to her mountain of knowledge, being first in line to perform any new practices put into place here at Clay. There have been several occasions where Kayla has been the one to step up during rapid responses and codes. The ANMs and Charge Nurses rely on her, as well as any other staff nurse, to get through the shift. Some nights are incredibly rough, but Kayla is the one to rally the troops and help everyone get through the shift. She presents a cheerful attitude, excellent attention to detail, and a determination that I, personally, have not seen in all my time in this profession. She is one of the rare nurses who come once in a lifetime and saves the day, every day.
