Gwen is a great mentor for her staff and many others in the leadership community as she has held many roles within the health system.
Gwen has consistently and gracefully exceeded the demands of a Nurse Leader at Michigan Medicine. Over the past 10 years that Gwen has managed the Nurse Recruitment and Retention Department, she has always been a strategic and visionary leader for the department and the health system. She has been involved in many key projects that have been vital to Michigan Medicine.
Some of these projects include the Field Hospital development team during the COVID pandemic, reduction in force coordination, workforce planning, and stabilization to include planning for the new pavilion tower and the core mission of recruiting and retaining the best talent for Michigan Medicine patients and families. Gwen directs a highly engaged team with great energy and accepts every challenge that is thrown her way. She is organized, a great communicator, and leads with wonderful compassion.
Gwen is a great mentor for her staff and many others in the leadership community as she has held many roles within the health system. If someone has a question, Gwen will know the answer or will find someone who does. She is selfless, will always put others first, and will do what is in the best interest of nurses and ultimately patient care. Over the past few years, when other institutions have had record-high vacancy rates, Michigan Medicine has exhibited extremely low vacancy rates (1.7%) because of Gwen’s leadership in continually recruiting top talent to the institution. Thank you, Gwen, for your excellent leadership of the NRR team and support of all Nursing Leadership at Michigan Medicine!
