Throughout the call, Sydny was calm, friendly, and supportive. She did a fantastic job of building a rapport with the individual, keeping them talking and calm.
While working in the ED, an officer was told by hospital staff a nurse was on the phone with an individual who said they were suicidal. When we arrived, RN Sydny Paul was on the phone with the caller. Initially, the caller, who was talking to a different ED employee, refused to provide any identifying information or her location. After a few moments, Sydny was able to obtain that information which we relayed to the appropriate agency. We also had Sydny speak to dispatchers to relay additional information directly to them. When she got off the phone with the dispatch, she told the individual she would stay on the phone with them until the police arrived.

She was able to get all the relevant information to safely locate the woman and then bring her to OSU Wexner Medical Center ED for treatment. We were both very impressed with how well Sydny handled this situation.
