The last thing I remember before falling asleep was hearing her say things were going to be okay as she held my hand.
Erin was my labor and delivery nurse from the moment I was in triage until I had given birth. From the start, she treated me with such kindness and care. I was in an extreme amount of pain, and she talked me through each contraction and told me I was doing a good job when I was not feeling that way. She gave me constant reassurance and pep talks throughout the process of labor. Once things weren’t going the way they were supposed to, she kept me completely informed about what was going on and things that could happen. My worst fear was needing an emergency c-section which is unfortunately what later happened. Once we realized it was necessary and needed to happen as soon as possible, Erin continued to talk me through everything. She could sense I was becoming upset and made sure to assure me again everything would be okay. The doctor and anesthesiologist decided I would need to go under general anesthesia as there wasn’t time to wait. While this was happening, I could hear Erin and feel her holding my hand to relax me. The last thing I remember before falling asleep was hearing her say things were going to be okay as she held my hand. Once the surgery was over, she went to tell my husband how everything went and gave him a hug, just continuously showing care and compassion. Erin is the type of person who should be a nurse, caring for others.
