As a nurse to my mother, her gentle disposition was very calming and soothing.
Leighann went far above her nurse duties. My father, who was in the room visiting, has dementia. Upon my mother’s request to leave the room while she and the bed were cleaned, he became very upset. On the way out of the room, he stated, “They better not make her holler or else,” to me. In my attempt to talk him down calmly, his aggression escalated. He began yelling and swearing at me in the hallway. Then, suddenly, he grabbed me and shoved me roughly to the side. I was pretty shaken by the experience.
Leighann immediately asked if I was okay and if there was anything she could do to help. No time was wasted getting the head of security up to answer my questions. Leighann very sweetly offered to keep an eye on the room so I could go collect myself and complied when I requested a hug.
As a nurse to my mother, her gentle disposition was very calming and soothing. She adjusted her many, many times and never lost the smile on her face. Talking to my mother, she gently explained when her pain medications were due next and sweetly reminded her they were written on the board.
If I am ever admitted, I pray I have Leighann or someone EXACTLY like her involved in my care!
