When our daughter was born prematurely, she had to spend three weeks in the Special Care Nursery at Children's Minneapolis. In that time we came into contact with many great nurses, but Amy was the one who made the biggest difference in not only the care of our daughter but in our entire family. She took extra time to educate and explain things to us as parents of a premature baby but also our older two children when they came to visit. Amy answered our questions and advocated for our daughter and our family to make sure we were comfortable with every decision being made for our daughter's care, she made sure we were taking care of ourselves too. We would talk about our family and things going on in our life and not only would Amy patiently listen to us, but she would remember what we talked about, and during her next shift, she would ask how our son's soccer game went or our daughter's gymnastics class. Amy showed genuine interest and compassion for our entire family. She calmed our fears and anxieties, and we all laughed a whole lot.

Amy made what could have been an incredibly stressful and draining experience into one that we will look back on with fondness and joy. Even through the closed doors of the rooms in the Special Care Nursery, you could see the same passion and understanding being given to all of the other families Amy worked with. We are grateful for our experience at Children's Minneapolis and for all of the nurses we worked with, but are especially grateful for Amy. We looked forward to every shift Amy worked with our daughter and our family, and she will forever hold a place in our hearts as part of our family.
