She was extremely patient, unbelievably kind, and always gave us the reassurance we needed. When Kelly was working, we felt confident our dear friend was in capable and trustworthy hands.
We were all shocked and saddened by our friend's diagnosis of a glioblastoma, and our hearts broke as we watched her physical and mental status decline rapidly. With little options left, her husband discovered The Ivy Brain Center and she had surgery within weeks of reaching out to them. Given the situation, our whole family was anxious about how she would come out of the surgery, so we hoped and prayed for the best. Part of that prayer included the staff that would take care of her. Our answer to prayer was Kelly - she took the time to gently explain what to expect after surgery to us, and we could tell right away that Kelly was a person we could trust. The entire day, we had Kelly as our nurse, her presence brought us a sense of peace and comfort. She was extremely patient, unbelievably kind, and always gave us the reassurance we needed. When Kelly was working, we felt confident our dear friend was in capable and trustworthy hands. She was thorough in her nursing assessment and helped catch a blood clot that traveled to her lungs. For that, we are SO thankful! She remained calm throughout that process and helped us understand what treatment would look like from that point going forward. We were impressed with her intelligence and demeanor in that situation. Towards the end of her shift, Kelly took time out of her day to sit down and get to know P and her family. She asked about her life prior to her diagnosis and asked to see pictures of her grandkids. She also got to share about her own life and children, which allowed us to see more than just the “nurse” Kelly. Not only is Kelly a wonderful nurse, but seems to be an excellent mother, wife, and friend as well. She even came back to visit our friend another day when she had other patients, which really proves to us how much Kelly cares about her patients and their families. We need more nurses like you, Kelly. Thank you for being our answer to prayer and our comfort during an exceptionally tough week. We will never forget the exceptional care you gave our loved one!
