Bethany consistently makes a "meaningful difference" in the care of the patients she treats and also in the atmosphere of our office. She is an outstanding team player, she is caring, considerate, and always has her patients' best interest at heart. Every nurse deserves to work with a nurse like Bethany.

There are multiple instances I could describe to tell you just how wonderful Bethany is, but the one that will forever be at the forefront of my mind is one that occurred recently and Bethany jumped in to action immediately. On Friday afternoon, Bethany was unboxing supplies and putting them in their respective places between our clinic side of the office and infusion. She had just left my office in the back hallway of our building and was headed back across the hall to infusion when she was approached by a frantic female, a non-English speaking man, and a small child who was blue in appearance and appeared to be actively seizing. Bethany immediately took the infant, placed him in an upright position to attempt to open his airway, and called for help as she ran out the back door of our building and across the parking lot with the infant to the emergency room. I followed with the father and another toddler, and moments later, another teammate followed with the mother and the female who initially found Bethany. Bethany made the run across the parking lot quickly and was able to get the infant back to one of the trauma rooms with the assistance of ER staff within minutes. The ER MD commended her effort in turning the infant upright to protect his tongue from blocking his airway.

While this is the most serious situation that depicts Bethany's meaningful impact in caring for others, this is just one example of so many ways that Bethany positively impacts patient care. As her supervisor, I could never fully explain my gratitude for having her as a member of the Union Team, and I am so incredibly proud of her!
