Mercy is someone who not only takes her job seriously, but chose it because she has the emotional bandwidth to be compassionate, caring, and even loving to people she doesn’t know.
My mother was a patient of Mercy’s for a few days in a row. My mom had been diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer and her complications were piling up. We went to the ER, and then quickly met Mercy on the unit. Mercy has shown compassion and empathy for not only my mother, but my entire family.  She has fiercely advocated for pain control, timely care, and care coordination among the team to help facilitate my mother's quick transition to comfort care. As a nurse myself, I can see easily that Mercy is someone who not only takes her job seriously, but chose it because she has the emotional bandwidth to be compassionate, caring, and even loving to people she doesn’t know. Going into the hospital is very scary, and my family was lucky to have Mercy to help us navigate the troubling time of my mother's illness. I felt safe in Mercy’s care, and I think that means a lot coming from one nurse to another. Mercy let me be a participate in my mother's care when I wanted and let me stand back when I needed rest. She is the comfort of all comforts. Thank you so much, Mercy.
