As I was walking into my youngest daughter's room, I heard her laughing and Drew was just speaking in a way to her that made her very calm.
Both of my daughters were involved in a terrible car accident. My youngest has severe anxiety to the point where she will pass out. They both came into the ED that night with a friend who was in the car with them. Each of the girls was in a separate room so I was running back and forth between the 3 rooms.
Drew was so very patient and made sure that I had all the information from each one as I was visiting all 3. As I was walking into my youngest daughter's room, I heard her laughing and Drew was just speaking in a way to her that made her very calm. This is a very big deal as I thought we were going to be in there all night with her anxiety. She was able to speak to him and she had a smile on her face, and it just warmed my heart. I could feel the compassion he had for each of these girls I am so very grateful we had him as our nurse. He deserves more than I could ever give to him.
His job is one of the hardest jobs in this world and for him to speak to kids and be able to connect with them to make them feel safe is amazing to a mother who was so shaken by what happened that evening. I will always be grateful for his service and will never forget how he has restored faith in my child that going to the ER is not a bad place to go. Thank you for all of your hard work. By the way, I never once told him I work at Floyd, so this was extra special. Thank you Drew you are truly a blessing and a fantastic nurse!
