Gustavo consistently provides exceptional, compassionate care to any patient, coworker, or family member he encounters. He will volunteer to assist with any patient admission or transfer, and even volunteer to work as charge nurse on any day of the week. I believe he is one of our most empathetic nurses on Reilly 3. He consistently manages to surpass the bar of patient advocacy and care. Tonight, he ran over from the complete other side of our unit that he was working on because he was concerned about someone's tele monitor. He hurried over to our side to make sure the patient was okay. He is unbelievable at what he does for our unit and actually brings us together as nurses. He is always willing to help his coworkers with any sort of patient-centered care.

One shift, I was so overwhelmed with my patient assignment; anything that could possibly happen was happening all at once. I'm a new graduate nurse, and I was visibly overwhelmed. Gustavo pulled me aside, reassured me, and worked alongside me to ensure that my patients and I were comfortable and okay. He is constantly thinking of his coworkers. In addition, he's thoughtful and brings in goodies to make our shifts better and will strive to ensure our patients' necessities are met. I believe if anyone deserves this award, it's Gustavo.

Gustavo is a hidden gem to IMC. He courageously takes on any patient assignment, charge position, and advocates for patients, families, and staff on IMC. One shift, there was a patient who was admitted for bedbugs. Gustavo graciously volunteered to shower, cream, and care for this patient on the floor when they weren't even assigned to him. He goes above and beyond for everyone on the unit here. He's an extremely smart and resourceful nurse. He was nominated as a spotlight winner for Lowell General Hospital, which helps prove that he consistently goes above and beyond with his career. No matter what job it is, big or small, Gustavo is always there to help.
