There is no problem Jeni can't creatively solve.

I can not imagine a better role model for nursing than Jeni. In one week alone, I was amazed by her level of care and compassion for so many of our patients. She went above and beyond to obtain a Posey tent/bed for our brain-injured patient so that he could be freed from restraints and optimize his recovery. She coordinated with several departments, including Sterile Processing, Cottage Rehabilitation Hospital, and Education, to ensure that we obtained the proper equipment and training and jumped through all the policy hoops to get the patient the care he needed. When he was finally moved to the bed, he thanked the nurse for it!

Later in the week, we were concerned we would have to replace the same patient's feeding tube due to a lack of PO intake. As the charge nurse, Jeni went into the room, got the patient sitting at the edge of the bed, and engaged him enough to ensure he ate an adequate amount so he would not have to have an NG placed for nutrition (and subsequent sedation, which would impede his recovery). This alone is just another day in the life of Jeni, but while this was occurring, she also was managing a rapid response on the floor and several very aggressive patients.

She then took over 45 minutes to provide emotional support to the wife of a patient who was becoming increasingly taxing to the nursing staff.

Jeni is an inspiration to me and I know many others. Her level of compassion and grace is tough to match and a true motivation to those around her. There is no problem Jeni can't creatively solve, and I am grateful for the opportunity to work alongside her.
