He is the best! To treat a 70-year-old woman with such thoughtfulness and kindness!
I can honestly say I have never met a kinder, more compassionate RN ever! Shawn took care of my son when he had back surgery. Shawn asked me if there was anything he could get me to eat or drink, but I said no because I was kind of shy. But then I said I could go for an ice water, and he brought that right in!
Then they took my son down to surgery, and Shawn asked me again if there was anything he could get me and started naming off things they had on the floor. He talked me into a blueberry muffin, and I said that would be great because we were there early, and I didn’t eat, and I’m diabetic, so that was wonderful! He even warmed it up and brought two pats of butter with it. A few hours later, he offered to show me where the cafeteria was, but I said I couldn’t walk that far because I have a very bad back and walk with a cane. He said he could take me down in a wheelchair, but I declined.
Then, when my son was in recovery, I was a little confused about what the doctor had to do, so Shawn showed me on his tablet, and he brought a model of a spine in to help me understand.
My son had to stay overnight so they took him over to the hospital wing, and he said one of the girls would show me where that is. Now, I’m thinking how far I would have to walk to that wing! Well, anyway, here comes a girl with a wheelchair, and she would take me over there! I knew that it had to be Shawn who knew I would need a ride over there, and boy, was I happy! What a kind person he is to think about me having to walk all that way! And boy, was he right! It was a very long walk for anyone, even if they didn’t have a bad back. I sure appreciated that so much because I never would have made it. That hospital is very inconvenient!
I would love to see Shawn RN recognized for his kindness, compassion, and caring ways. He is the best! To treat a 70-year-old woman with such thoughtfulness and kindness! He sure deserves to be rewarded for this!
Thank you, Shawn! I appreciate you so much!
