Khristy did not judge my tears or my emotions, and she made me feel like she was there for me and would take excellent care of me. She followed through on everything she promised.
I suffer from debilitating stomach issues that landed me in the hospital at St Teresa twice in two weeks. I cannot accurately describe the torment of how it felt to be constantly vomiting and dry heaving, unable to even eat small amounts of food without IV nausea medications. There were times when I just wanted to black out and be done with it because I was so uncomfortable. The doctor admitted me and scheduled me for a gastric emptying test so we could see if the gastroparesis was worse and get fresh data to GI specialist who would help me outpatient. Khristy made a plan with my medications and food intake to minimize the discomfort I would be feeling overnight and through the 5-6 hours of the test, and she followed through. More than that, she truly empathized with me and what I was going through and what it is like to live with something like this. Usually, gastro patients are treated with annoyance and told to just go lay down and wait for it to pass. Khristy did not judge my tears or my emotions, and she made me feel like she was there for me and would take excellent care of me. She followed through on everything she promised. Nursing is harder than ever these days, so I couldn’t have faulted her if she had just done the bare minimum and gone on her way. But she made me feel seen and cared for by personalizing my schedule around what was happening to me and taking the time to talk to me and listen to me with actual empathy.
