Andrea recently had a very critical patient where she had noticed a slight change in the patient's rhythm and went to the room immediately to check on the patient to find that they were worsening. Because of this, the physician was able to intervene and they got the patient what he needed in time and got him transferred to where he needed to be. Had she not caught it when she did the outcome would have looked differently for that patient.
Andrea also had another patient who was going to be admitted but waiting in the ED waiting room for a bed to be placed in. She went to check on him and to collect blood later in the night and noticed he was slurring his words. She notified the physician immediately and they ordered additional testing and found the patient was having a hemorrhagic stroke. The patient was immediately transferred where he needed to be to get the proper care needed. This was caught quickly and had it not the outcome could have looked differently.
Andrea is always going above and beyond for her patients and her peers every day. The care and compassion she shows her patients are more than we could ask for. The leadership she provides to her peers is top notch and her peers feel she deserves to be recognized for all of the hard work and dedication she consistently puts forth.
