Since my boyfriend was admitted on Wednesday morning, Kara has been more kind, thorough, and observant than any doctor or nurse we have seen. I have been with my boyfriend 24 hours a day since he got to the ER, and even so, Kara noticed small details such as increases in swelling before I did. When he was admitted, I mentioned confusion, unusual for my boyfriend, to her, and she very easily may have saved his life by being the ONLY staff member who has paid special notice to this. I can only hope that Lenox Hill recognizes how lucky they are to have Kara with them. Her dedication is exceptional, and I cannot understate my gratitude for her. I doubt that neurology would have ever been involved without her help. I can't stress this enough: without Kara, none of this would have happened.

On a more personal note, I have been scared sick for my boyfriend since he got here. Kara has gone above and beyond for my boyfriend and me. She has gone out of her way to extend kindness to me, too, and give me as much comfort as possible; noticeably so, she has gone beyond for us. She immediately acted to ease any concern either of us had named. She set the bar extremely high, and I can only hope that other nurses appear to be like Kara and work to emulate her kindness, urgency, and just how seriously she has taken my boyfriend's grace. I have been in many hospitals and have never encountered a nurse like Kara.

Above and beyond care in a professional and also extremely human and caring manner. Amidst confusion on whether or not a symptom was told to a new doctor, Kara both provided and resumed that she had gone above documenting scary symptoms and concerns to her fullest extent. She also shared patience I had never seen and helped me with all of my needs and care in a way that made me feel safe and genuinely taken care of.
