She is a new grad RN, and most of her work is delivered while her patients are asleep. The old adage goes, "You're only given what you can handle," and someone thinks she can handle a lot! She has been handed several instances where it should be an "easy" case for a new grad and has been faced with rare or unusual situations. It is through her critical thinking and unwavering bravery to ask uncomfortable questions or escalate issues that she has changed the unit's practices for the better. She is dedicated to the promotion of best practices and not simply doing "what we've always done." She has been here for less than a year and has already jumped into quality improvement projects and peer education. Through her actions and integrity, she has helped countless patients and many to come. She is a testament to the spirit of the DAISY Award and makes meaningful impacts for patients daily...and none of these patients may even realize just how instrumental she was in their successful surgical case.
