Erika provides excellent, quality, compassionate care to all of her clients as well as her team members. She is honest and kind, and creates a safe, therapeutic environment for colleagues, patients, and community partners alike. This nurse has supported first-time mothers in the community as young as 9 years old with grace, evidence-based, therapeutic, and culturally informed care. Serving in the home, she has provided families with the necessary support, referrals, and resources that empower them to take the necessary steps to end generational cycles of poverty and abuse. This nurse teaches first-time mothers and their families how to advocate for themselves and equips them with tools that impact their lives far beyond her time with them. She exemplifies compassion and collaboration by providing community outreach and serving at health fairs and on crucial community committees, including the Dallas County Infant Death Review team, the Bilingual Spanish Community of Practice, and the Safe Sleep Committee. This nurse always strives to learn and grow and brings quality improvement information back to her team to ensure we are practicing to the highest standards. She treats everyone with respect and values diversity on the team and within the community, always working toward equity and inclusion for all persons. She exemplifies all Parkland ICARE Values and is a great representation of Parkland within the Dallas community and beyond.
