You will be able to see Rene all over Bourbon Community Hospital talking with patients and families. Rene has the title of Case Management, however, her care for our patients goes way beyond this job. The families trust Rene and know that she will do her very best to ensure continued care for the patient and family. To pick just one story or situation is difficult. Rene has a way to connect and show true compassion and empathy. Rene has a hard job, Rene is the one who may first speak to a family that is struggling with the hard decision of hospice for their loved one, or to continue care at a rehab facility. In these times, a patient and family needs support and to have confidence in making the right decision, this is where Rene connects with the patients and family. Rene builds a relationship with every family that she comes in contact with. Rene loves what she does, and it shows in her everyday work. Rene has been known to go above and beyond with families, so much so, that they call her and give her updates on the progression of rehab or to learn of the passing, and they send her flowers of appreciation and cards with beautiful words of kindness for the time and attention she gives each patient and family. She is the epitome of what a nurse and case manager should be.
