Nicole patiently went over every beep, every button, and multiple scenarios with this patient so that she would feel empowered (and safe!) to perform these tube feeds on her own.
We recently had a patient who was discharged with a new j-tube and tube feeds. This patient and her loved one were extremely nervous and apprehensive about how to handle this new life change. Nicole went over their discharge instructions at length and made them feel secure.
Once they were home, the patient called the unit in a panic: she was completely overwhelmed with how to handle the tube feeds. This is where Nicole went above and beyond - she video-chatted the patient so that she could walk her through what needed to be done. She patiently went over every beep, every button, and multiple scenarios with this patient so that she would feel empowered (and safe!) to perform these tube feeds on her own. The patient was overwhelmed with gratitude. Nicole shows so much compassion to her patients every day, but this is a prime example of why nursing is the most trusted profession. Thank you, Nicole!
