First impression is the best, and Arvin was there. All he wanted was for my mom to be comfortable.
My mom was a patient for 6 days. She came in with excruciating pain in her RT Shoulder. Little did we know she would be diagnosed with something completely different from the original complaint. My family and I were in disbelief when we got the lab results. We were an emotional wreck. My mom came from Florida to visit for two weeks, and she ended up in the best hospital after just three days of arriving here. We never knew what to expect. I'm the only family she has in Texas. My entire family is in Florida, so it was all on me. Everything was scary as I watched her be admitted and taken for test after test. I was told that I brought her in on time. One day later, she wouldn't be here today.

First impression is the best, and Arvin was there. All he wanted was for my mom to be comfortable. He kept me informed of lab results and explained everything he was doing to keep me informed. No matter how many times I asked, he answered the same questions over and over and with patience. He made sure my mom's requests were handled promptly. Arvin was also concerned about my well-being as the family. I didn't want to leave my mother's side. My Florida family was counting on me for updates on her condition. It was extreme pressure and very emotional for me. Arvin cared about my mom.

I used to be a nursing student recruiter in Florida and was involved in the alumni education. Some people are in it for the money, but Arvin is made differently. He is one of the most compassionate Nurses I have ever met. Arvin's passion made a huge impression on us. He went above and beyond his job description. For example, my mom went to shower, and he changed the linen on her bed instead of calling the PCA. When the Attending came in to discuss diagnostic testing results, Arvin stood by the door in the room, making sure we remembered to voice all the concerns we had and helped when we forgot a minor detail. It was to ask the Dr if my mom could get off a liquid diet and start eating soft foods. Not really a big deal to most people, but it was to my mom, and he knew it. Thank you, Arvin, for all that you did for us.
