The wife still did not have a ride home, so Courtney made plans with the supervisor for the wife to be able to spend the night if transportation was unable to come back.
Courtney was instrumental in facilitating care for our patient who came in for surgery for a broken ankle. Even before surgery, she was in communication with the patient and family to help set up transportation arrangements for the procedure.
Once the patient arrived, he still did not have a family member with him which was necessary before the procedure could be performed. Courtney called the wife and transportation company again and made arrangements for them to pick up the wife and bring her to the hospital. After the surgery was done and upon preparing to go home, the patient had a fall while getting dressed. Courtney got in touch with the physician to obtain orders for follow-up care. Transportation was notified of the delay and said they did not know if or when they could come back. The plan was to admit the patient overnight for observation.
The wife still did not have a ride home, so Courtney made plans with the supervisor for the wife to be able to spend the night if transportation was unable to come back. A recliner and a meal tray were offered and the patient was admitted. The patient and wife were very thankful for the assistance in addressing these issues and for doing everything possible to get this surgery accomplished. It took a lot of time and effort to make sure the patient received the necessary care for his condition.
